1. A Large-Scale Modern Agricultural Park in China
This park has built multiple smart greenhouses for growing high-end flowers and vegetables. The greenhouse glass adopts a C-edge design, with a large size (usually 1.5m×3m). During installation, the advantages of C-edge became obvious: its rounded edges made operation easier for workers, greatly reducing the glass breakage rate-from about 3% (with ordinary straight-edge glass) to less than 0.5%. Meanwhile, C-edge glass sealed better with aluminum alloy frames, significantly improving the greenhouse's airtightness and watertightness. As a result, winter heating costs dropped by approximately 10% compared to using straight-edge glass.
2. Flower-Growing Greenhouses in the Netherlands
The Netherlands is a major flower-growing country with a well-developed greenhouse industry. C-edge greenhouse glass is widely used in many large flower-growing greenhouses here. For example, a famous flower-growing company has a greenhouse covering tens of thousands of square meters. All its glass is ultra-clear tempered glass with C-edge. This design not only improved the greenhouse's safety-reducing the risk of workers being cut by glass edges during daily management and flower picking-but also enhanced the greenhouse's wind resistance (thanks to the good fit between C-edge glass and the frame). It can withstand frequent strong winds in the region, ensuring a stable growing environment for flowers.
3. Vegetable-Growing Greenhouses in the United States
C-edge greenhouse glass is also used in some vegetable-growing greenhouses in the US. Take a large tomato-growing greenhouse in California as an example: it uses tempered glass with C-edge. The C-edge made the glass edges stronger, enabling them to better withstand temperature changes and humidity effects inside and outside the greenhouse. This reduced the occurrence of cracks and breakage on glass edges, extending the glass's service life from about 15 years (ordinary straight-edge glass) to over 20 years. Additionally, the good sealing performance of C-edge glass helped maintain stable humidity inside the greenhouse, reducing pests and diseases and improving the yield and quality of tomatoes.
